The Late Classical period is regarded as setting many research tasks in the field of Attic vase painting. During the years, numerous divergent opinions have accumulated regarding distinguishing vase painters and stylistic groups, as well as on the attributions of many works of the 4th c. BC. In addition, there is a lasting impression in the scholarly publications about an uncertainty regarding the essence and the scope of the Kerch Style – a term meant to express the new and striking specifics of the last stage of the vase painting’s development.
